Ten is Pearl Jam's debut album, released in 1991 in Seattle. The band was formed by Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard, formerly of Mother Love Bone, together with singer Eddie Vedder, and the album was produced by Rick Parashar. Ten was released just weeks before Nirvana's Nevermind and proved pivotal to the rise of grunge. Alive, Even Flow, Jeremy and Black are among its best-known songs. The lyrics address themes such as depression, homelessness and, in the case of Jeremy, a school shooting. The album broke through in 1992, reached number 2 on the Billboard 200 and is considered one of the best-selling rock albums of the 1990s.
