In March 1987 the then young band recorded seventeen songs at Fort Apache studio in Roxbury, Massachusetts. Eight of them became Come On Pilgrim; the nine that were left over make up Demos, which came out for Record Store Day in 2023. These are early versions of Here Comes Your Man, Broken Face, Down to the Well and Subbacultcha among others, songs that only surfaced on other albums later on. Fans know the session as the Purple Tape.
