Santana's self-titled debut album originally appeared in 1969, shortly after the Woodstock performance where Soul Sacrifice brought the band to an audience of millions. The group around guitarist Carlos Santana, organist Gregg Rolie, and percussionists José Chepito Areas and Michael Carabello put Latin rhythms under blues rock. Evil Ways became the hit, while Jingo, based on a piece by Babatunde Olatunji, shows how far the band already stood from the usual rock formats. This edition is an LP.
