'Fairground' finally gave Simply Red a first UK number one: the single spent four weeks at the top, built on a sample of The Goodmen's 'Give It Up' and driven by samba percussion. Life, the fifth studio album by Mick Hucknall's band, went straight to the top of the UK albums chart right after. Alongside that dancefloor single are the soulful pop songs Hucknall is known for, including the later singles 'Remembering The First Time' and 'Never Never Love'. The album sold more than a million copies in the United Kingdom.

This edition is an LP on curaçao blue vinyl, the National Album Day edition.
