.5: The Gray Chapter is the fifth studio album by Slipknot, released in 2014, six years after the previous record. It was the first album without bassist Paul Gray, who died in 2010 and to whom the title refers, and without drummer Joey Jordison, who left the band in late 2013. Grief and anger are central themes on the album. The singles The Devil in I, Custer and later Killpop were part of the promotion. The album reached number one on the Billboard 200. Musically, the record shifts between aggressive metal and more melodic passages.
