In 2013 NME placed The Queen Is Dead at number one on its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. On the third studio album by The Smiths, recorded in 1985, Morrissey's mockery of the monarchy and Thatcher's England sits next to some of the most melodic guitar parts Johnny Marr ever wrote. 'Bigmouth Strikes Again' and 'The Boy with the Thorn in His Side' were released as singles; 'There Is a Light That Never Goes Out' only grew into the band's best known song years later. In between sits 'Frankly, Mr. Shankly', usually read as a jab at their own label boss. The original album came out in June 1986 on Rough Trade. This edition is a CD.
