Abracadabra, originally released in 1982, gave the Steve Miller Band their biggest hit of the eighties. The title track spent two weeks at number 1 on the US Hot 100 in early September, Miller's third American number 1 single after The Joker and Rock'n Me. Where the hits of the previous decade leaned on guitar, this album puts synthesizers and a tight electronic pulse up front, with quieter songs such as While I'm Waiting and Goodbye Love alongside them.
