The Stooges is the self-titled debut album by the American band The Stooges, originally released in 1969. Led by singer Iggy Pop, the group helped lay the groundwork for later punk rock with this record. The songs are raw, minimalist and energetic, with simple but compelling riffs. Well-known tracks are '1969', 'I Wanna Be Your Dog' and 'No Fun'. The album was produced by John Cale of The Velvet Underground and is regarded as an influential starting point of proto-punk.
