Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith spent more than three years on The Seeds of Love, the third studio album by Tears For Fears; the long production and scrapped sessions cost over a million pounds. The result sounds broader than their earlier synth-pop, with soul, jazz and a healthy dose of the Beatles in the single Sowing the Seeds of Love. On Woman in Chains, Oleta Adams duets with Orzabal, with Phil Collins on drums; it became her first hit. Badman's Song, Advice for the Young at Heart and Famous Last Words are also on the album, which entered the UK Albums Chart at number one.
