Black and Blue marked a transitional phase for The Rolling Stones in 1976: after guitarist Mick Taylor's departure, the band partly used the sessions to audition his successor, with Wayne Perkins, Harvey Mandel and Ronnie Wood each playing on different tracks. That search colours the album, which leans further into funk, soul and reggae than earlier work: the Billy Preston-driven 'Hot Stuff' and 'Hey Negrita', the reggae cover 'Cherry Oh Baby' and the slow-burning hit single 'Fool to Cry'. The album was originally released in 1976 and reached number one in the United States. This edition combines CD and Blu-ray, featuring a Steven Wilson remix and extensive 1976 live material (Earls Court and Paris).
