Less than three months after Roll With the Punches, Van Morrison put out Versatile in December 2017, a jazz album with ten standards and six songs of his own. He sings A Foggy Day, Bye Bye Blackbird, Makin' Whoopee, I Get a Kick Out of You, and I Left My Heart In San Francisco in the crooner tradition of Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, and Tony Bennett, backed by a small band with piano, double bass, and horns. Between the standards sit originals such as Broken Record, Affirmation, and Only a Dream, set in the same register. This edition is a 2-LP.
