Shortly after Deep Purple fell apart in 1976, David Coverdale recorded his solo debut White Snake, with Roger Glover producing and guitarist Micky Moody, who later became a mainstay of the band Whitesnake. MCMLXXVII is Roman for 1977, the year that debut originally appeared, and presents it in a new 2024 mix made with recent audio separation technology. The music moves between blues rock, hard rock and soul, bridging Coverdale's Deep Purple years and the later Whitesnake sound. On Lady, Blindman and Peace Lovin' Man he is heard above all as a soulful rock singer. The remix came out in the same period as the CD box Into the Light: The Solo Albums, with which Coverdale brought his early solo work back into view. This edition is an LP.
