Northwinds is David Coverdale's second solo album and originally appeared in 1978, after he left Deep Purple and just before he founded Whitesnake later that year. Roger Glover, former Deep Purple bassist, produced it and played synthesiser and clavinet himself. Recording ran through AIR Studios in London and Musicland Studios in Munich, with guitarist Micky Moody among the players, who shortly afterwards became a co-founder of Whitesnake. Musically the album combines blues rock with soul and restrained ballads, including the title track. Purple Records issued it at the time. This edition is an LP on Black Ice vinyl.
