Hell Awaits, originally released in April 1985 through Metal Blade, is Slayer's second studio album. The songs grew longer and more complex than on debut Show No Mercy, with reversed voices in the intro of the title track and lyrics digging deeper into hell and the occult. 'At Dawn They Sleep' and 'Necrophiliac' became fixtures in the live sets, and the album laid the groundwork for Reign in Blood a year later.

This edition is the 40th-anniversary box set with 3 LPs: the restored album on fire splatter vinyl and the previously unreleased Live From Bochum 1985 on two black 180-gram LPs, plus a 60-page book, a slipmat and posters.
