Accident of Birth brought Adrian Smith back alongside Bruce Dickinson, two years before both rejoined Iron Maiden. The singer's fourth solo album, originally released in 1997, marked a clear return to heavy metal after the alternative rock of Skunkworks. Producer and guitarist Roy Z recorded it at Silver Cloud Recording in Redondo Beach and Sound City in Los Angeles, with Eddie Casillas on bass and David Ingraham on drums. The title track and Man of Sorrows were released as singles.

This edition is a CD featuring Brendan Duffey's 2026 remix.
