In Color originally appeared in September 1977, half a year after Cheap Trick's debut, and sounded considerably smoother: producer Tom Werman pushed the melodies forward and the sharp edges back. In return, the band wrote some of its most durable songs here. 'I Want You to Want Me', 'Southern Girls', and 'Clock Strikes Ten' were captured live in Japan a year later and only really caught on in that version. 'Downed' and 'Big Eyes' also come from this album. The sleeve shows Robin Zander and Tom Petersson on motorcycles on the front and Rick Nielsen and Bun E. Carlos on mopeds on the back.
