Met een legendarische carrière van bijna vijf decennia heeft KANSAS zich stevig gevestigd als een van Amerika's iconische classic rock bands. Deze "garageband" uit Topeka bracht in 1974 hun debuutalbum uit nadat ze ontdekt waren door Wally Gold, die voor Don Kirshner werkte, en verkochten wereldwijd meer dan 30 miljoen albums.
In de zomer van 2020 verscheen "The Absence of Presence", het zestiende studioalbum van KANSAS, dat debuteerde op #10 in Billboard's Top Current Albums chart. Het veelomvattende progressieve rockalbum, uitgebracht door InsideOut Music, volgt op "The Prelude Implicit" uit 2016, dat debuteerde op #14 in Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart.
Gedurende 2016-2017 vierde de band de verjaardag van het doorbraakalbum "Leftoverture" met de zeer succesvolle KANSAS: Leftoverture 40th Anniversary Tour. Die tour werd in 2017 uitgebracht als een live album, "Leftoverture Live & Beyond." Sinds 2018 heeft KANSAS die tour gevolgd met de nog succesvollere KANSAS: Point of Know Return Anniversary Tour. Die tour werd vastgelegd als het live-album van 2021.
