Black Tie White Noise was originally released in 1993 and marked David Bowie's return as a solo artist after his years with the band Tin Machine. Nile Rodgers produced once again; the album draws on soul, jazz and electronic dance music and was partly inspired by Bowie's marriage to Iman, which echoes through "The Wedding". The single "Jump They Say" refers to his late half-brother Terry, and trumpeter Lester Bowie pulls the record towards jazz. The album reached number one on the UK albums chart.
