For Heathen, originally released in 2002, David Bowie worked with producer Tony Visconti for the first time since 1980, the start of the creative final stretch of his career. The album sets a dark, atmospheric tone with Slow Burn and the title track Heathen (The Rays), alongside idiosyncratic covers of Pixies' Cactus and Neil Young's I've Been Waiting for You. In 2026 the album was reissued as a separate release, taken from the box set I Can't Give Everything Away (2002-2016). This edition is an LP on black vinyl.
