David Bowie in Bertolt Brecht's Baal is a five-song EP that David Bowie recorded for a television adaptation of Brecht's play Baal, in which he took the title role of the dissolute poet himself. The sessions took place in September 1981 at Hansa Studios in West Berlin, with Tony Visconti as co-producer. The EP originally appeared in 1982 and was Bowie's final release of new material for RCA; despite its unusual repertoire it reached number 29 on the UK chart. The songs, sung in English from Brecht's texts, sit well apart from his glam-rock and Berlin work.
