Low was originally released in January 1977 and is the first part of the Berlin trilogy David Bowie made with Brian Eno and producer Tony Visconti. The first side consists of short, fragmentary art-rock songs such as "Speed of Life", "Be My Wife" and the single "Sound and Vision", which reached the UK top three. The second side is largely instrumental and ambient, with atmospheric pieces such as "Warszawa" and "Subterraneans" that echo the German electronic music of the time. The album marked a break with Bowie's earlier work and became an important influence on the post-punk and new wave that followed.
