De La Soul

De La Soul broke through in 1989 with 3 Feet High and Rising, a debut that, with producer Prince Paul, set a playful, sample-heavy counterweight against the harder rap of the day. Posdnuos, Trugoy the Dove and Maseo came out of Long Island, belonged to the Native Tongues collective, and kept going their own way after that: the darker De La Soul Is Dead, the jazz-leaning Buhloone Mindstate, the self-critical rap of Stakes Is High, the Art Official Intelligence albums, and The Grind Date. Unresolved sample clearances kept their catalogue off streaming services for years; it finally arrived in 2023, shortly after the death of Trugoy the Dove in February 2023. Cabin in the Sky, from 2025, is the first album since, built around recordings he had already laid down.

This collection brings together De La Soul on vinyl, LP and CD: reissues of the classics, individual singles, and later albums.
