Disturbed

Disturbed came out of Chicago in the late 1990s and used their debut The Sickness (2000) to stamp their own mark on American nu-metal: the chopping, mechanically tight riffing of Dan Donegan, the drumming of Mike Wengren, and the staccato phrasing of singer David Draiman. That debut stalled at number 29 on the Billboard 200, but the five albums that followed all entered at number 1, from Believe (2002) and Ten Thousand Fists (2005) through to Immortalized (2015). Along the way the band moved from nu-metal towards tightly produced hard rock with big choruses, with covers such as Land of Confusion and The Sound of Silence standing out; the latter earned a 2017 Grammy nomination for Best Rock Performance. On Divisive (2022) they worked with producer Drew Fulk, and Ann Wilson became the first guest vocalist to appear on a Disturbed album.
