In January and February of 1990 and 1991, Eric Clapton played long runs of concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, each time with a different line-up: a rock band, a blues band with guests including Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, and Robert Cray, and the National Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Michael Kamen. The Definitive 24 Nights collects one full concert from each of those three programmes, newly mixed and remastered, greatly expanding the 1991 double album 24 Nights. Alongside "Layla", "Wonderful Tonight", "White Room", and "Sunshine of Your Love" it carries the complete Concerto for Electric Guitar that Michael Kamen wrote for Clapton. Phil Collins plays drums on two songs from the rock concert.
