Eric Clapton

Eric Clapton moved through three influential groups in the space of a few years during the 1960s: The Yardbirds, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, and Cream. Blind Faith and Derek and the Dominos, the band behind "Layla", followed. From 1970 he built a solo career that kept folding British blues into rock, reggae, and pop: 461 Ocean Boulevard with "I Shot the Sheriff", Slowhand with "Wonderful Tonight" and "Cocaine", the acoustic Unplugged from 1992, and blues records such as From the Cradle and Nothing but the Blues. He has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times: with The Yardbirds, with Cream, and as a solo artist.
