Genesis

Genesis started in 1967 as a school band at Charterhouse and grew into one of the defining names of British progressive rock. With Peter Gabriel as singer and storyteller, the band built long, theatrical pieces on albums such as Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England by the Pound and the concept album The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. After Gabriel left in 1975, drummer Phil Collins took over on vocals, and when guitarist Steve Hackett departed as well the band carried on as a trio of Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford. That trio moved step by step towards the radio: Follow You Follow Me on ...And Then There Were Three..., the tighter songs of Abacab and Genesis, and the worldwide success of Invisible Touch (1986) and We Can't Dance (1991). Ray Wilson sang on the final studio album, Calling All Stations (1997), and in 2021 and 2022 the band played its farewell tour, The Last Domino?.

This collection brings together Genesis on vinyl, LP and CD: reissues from the Gabriel era, the trio albums of the eighties and nineties, plus live and compilation releases.
