Between her debut Lost & Found and second album Falling or Flying, Jorja Smith released this eight-track interim project, originally issued in May 2021 through her own FAMM label. She herself described Be Right Back as a waiting room: songs that didn't fit anywhere else, but were too good to leave behind. The string-laden production came largely from regular collaborators Joel Compass and Ed Thomas, and British-Nigerian rapper Shaybo joins on Bussdown. Addicted and Gone were released as singles.
