Iggy Pop

Iggy Pop, born James Osterberg, broke through in Detroit with The Stooges and laid the groundwork for the punk that would only arrive years later. His solo work began in 1977 in Berlin, where he recorded The Idiot and Lust for Life with David Bowie, producing "The Passenger", "Nightclubbing" and "China Girl", songs that stayed with him for the rest of his career. The raw Arista years brought New Values, Soldier and Party, the commercial comeback came with Blah-Blah-Blah and Brick by Brick, and much later he made Post Pop Depression (2016) with Josh Homme and Every Loser (2023). He has been known for decades as the godfather of punk, as much for his bare-chested performances as for the records themselves.
