Elegantly Wasted is the tenth studio album by INXS and originally appeared on 15 April 1997. The band rehearsed in London in April 1996 and then recorded in Vancouver with producer Bruce Fairbairn, while Michael Hutchence and Andrew Farriss finished the work in Spain later that year. The title track became the band's fourth and final number one single in Canada. On 22 November 1997, some seven months after the release, Hutchence died in Sydney. It remained the last album he recorded with INXS.
