Harlequin appeared in 2024 as a companion album to the film Joker: Folie à Deux, in which Lady Gaga plays Lee Quinzel. Most of the record consists of jazz and show standards, among them Get Happy, Oh, When the Saints, That's Entertainment, and That's Life, alongside originals such as Folie à Deux and Happy Mistake. The arrangements are theatrical, built on big band and strings, and Gaga sings them in character rather than as herself.
