The Manticore Tapes gathers the earliest studio recordings of Motörhead's classic line-up: in August 1976, Lemmy Kilmister (bass, vocals), 'Fast' Eddie Clarke (guitar) and Phil 'Philthy Animal' Taylor (drums) came together for the first time at Emerson, Lake & Palmer's Manticore Studio in Fulham. Recorded shortly after the departures of guitarist Larry Wallis and drummer Lucas Fox, using Ronnie Lane's mobile studio, these tapes capture the trio's first work together. Shelved for decades and restored by Cameron Webb, they were released as an album for the first time in 2025, marking the band's fiftieth anniversary. Among the tracks are raw early versions of 'Motorhead', 'Leavin' Here', 'The Watcher' and 'Vibrator'.
