On their self-titled debut, Aerosmith still sounded like a blues band from the Boston clubs: Steven Tyler and Joe Perry had put the group together three years earlier and cut the album in a matter of weeks at Intermedia Sound. Make It, Mama Kin, and Movin' Out set the tone, with a cover of Rufus Thomas's Walkin' the Dog nodding to the blues. The ballad Dream On did little on release, but a 1976 reissue took it into the US top ten and turned it into the band's calling card. The album originally appeared in 1973; the 2026 Legendary Edition brought it back in a new mix by Tyler, Perry, Zakk Cervini, and Steve Berkowitz, alongside a 1973 live performance from Paul's Mall and previously unreleased studio recordings.
