By 1972 The Beach Boys looked different from the surf years: Brian Wilson was barely in the foreground and the South African musicians Blondie Chaplin and Ricky Fataar had joined the band. Sail On Sailor 1972 places the two albums from that year side by side, Carl and the Passions - So Tough and Holland, recorded in the Netherlands, together with the spoken-word record Mount Vernon and Fairway. Around those albums sit session recordings, alternate mixes, unreleased songs such as Carry Me Home and Hard Time, and a complete Carnegie Hall concert from November 1972. The set was released in December 2022 through Capitol/UMe.
This edition is a 2-LP with the Mount Vernon and Fairway 7-inch EP included.
