One of These Nights took the Eagles to number one on the American album chart for the first time. Bill Szymczyk produced again, and the title track shows where the band was heading: a taut bass figure, falsetto singing from Don Henley and a Don Felder solo closer to r&b and rock than to country. Two ballads became singles, Lyin' Eyes, which won a Grammy for best pop performance by a duo or group, and Take It to the Limit, sung by Randy Meisner. The instrumental Journey of the Sorcerer, written by Bernie Leadon, later found a second life as the theme to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. It was Leadon's last studio album with the band; he left at the end of 1975. The album originally appeared in 1975. This edition is an LP.
