After an exhausting American tour, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant withdrew to Bron-Yr-Aur, a cottage in Wales with no electricity or running water. Most of the third album took shape there, and it originally appeared in October 1970. It still opens with the pounding 'Immigrant Song' and the drawn-out blues of 'Since I've Been Loving You', but then tilts towards acoustic guitar, mandolin and banjo on 'Gallows Pole', 'That's the Way' and 'Bron-Y-Aur Stomp'. That turn confused critics and audiences alike at the time, many of whom had been expecting a second 'Whole Lotta Love'. The original sleeve used a rotating cardboard wheel, so different images kept appearing in the cut-outs. This edition is the deluxe edition, a 2-LP.
