After a stretch in which she considered giving up music, Mitski returned with synth-pop: tight rhythms, layers of keyboards, and a production that gleams harder than her earlier work. The title refers to the dense thickets of mountain laurel in Appalachia that you can get lost in. The sixth studio album originally dates from February 2022 and was made with Patrick Hyland again; 'Working for the Knife' arrived first as a single, and 'The Only Heartbreaker' sets a lyric about blame over a danceable arrangement. It became her highest-charting album to that point, with top 10 placings in the US, the UK, Ireland, and Australia among others, and her first number 1 on the US alternative and rock album charts.
This edition is an LP on red and white vinyl (ruby & white bloom).
