News Of The World was originally released in 1977 and is Queen's sixth studio album. After the baroque production of the preceding records, they went for a rawer, more direct approach here, partly in response to the rise of punk. The album opens with two of their best-known songs: Brian May's stamping We Will Rock You and Freddie Mercury's We Are The Champions, both inspired by audiences singing along at shows. It also holds Roger Taylor's Sheer Heart Attack, Spread Your Wings and the bluesy Sleeping On The Sidewalk. Helped by those two opening hits, it became the best-selling album of Queen's career.
