Sepultura

Sepultura started out in 1984 in Belo Horizonte as a raw death and thrash band built around brothers Max and Igor Cavalera, and became the best known metal band Brazil has produced. Beneath the Remains (1989) and Arise (1991) placed them among the international thrash elite; on Chaos A.D. and Roots the tempos dropped and Brazilian percussion and indigenous rhythms moved into the sound. Max Cavalera left in 1996, Derrick Green took over on vocals, and with Against, Dante XXI, Machine Messiah and Quadra the band built a second career as long as the first. The farewell run Celebrating Life Through Death has been running since 2024 and ends on 7 November 2026 with a final show in São Paulo.
