Tangerine Dream
Tangerine Dream started in Berlin in 1967 as an experimental band around Edgar Froese and grew into one of the defining names in electronic music. After the raw Electronic Meditation (1970) and the sprawling Zeit (1972), the group found its trademark at Virgin Records: pulsing sequencers and floating layers of synthesizer on Phaedra (1974), Rubycon (1975) and the live album Ricochet. That sound became the core of what came to be called the Berlin School. From the late 1970s onward the band also wrote film music, for Sorcerer, Thief, Risky Business and Legend among others. Froese kept the line-up in constant motion, with Christopher Franke, Peter Baumann, Johannes Schmoelling and Paul Haslinger among the best known players. After his death in 2015 Thorsten Quaeschning carried the group forward, since Raum (2022) with Hoshiko Yamane and Paul Frick.
This collection brings together Tangerine Dream on vinyl, LP and CD: reissues of the Virgin classics, later studio albums and official live and archive recordings from across their history.
