Songs from the Big Chair, released in 1985, was the second studio album by the British duo Tears for Fears, made up of Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith. The record became their international breakthrough and combined ambitious songwriting with a polished, synthesizer-driven production. Global hits such as 'Everybody Wants to Rule the World', 'Shout' and 'Head Over Heels' made the album one of the decade's defining records. The songs tied catchy melodies to introspective, sometimes melancholy lyrics. Songs from the Big Chair is regarded as a highlight of 1980s pop.
