To the Faithful Departed is the third studio album by Irish band The Cranberries, originally released in 1996. Led by singer Dolores O'Riordan, the band took a darker path, with songs about war, loss and violence, such as 'Bosnia', 'War Child' and 'I Just Shot John Lennon'. The singles 'Salvation', 'Free to Decide' and 'When You're Gone' became international hits. The album, produced by Bruce Fairbairn, is dedicated to departed loved ones, to whom the title also refers. With millions of copies sold worldwide, it confirmed the status the band had built with Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We? and No Need to Argue.
