The record is an expansive, cinematic work in which themes of fame, exhaustion and redemption come together. Well-known tracks include "Timeless", "São Paulo", "Cry for Me" and the title song. Musically the album moves between synth-pop, R&B and darker, atmospheric material. The Weeknd presented it as a closing of the persona he had built for years under that artist name.
