The Weeknd
Abel Tesfaye uploaded three mixtapes anonymously in 2011, House of Balloons, Thursday and Echoes of Silence, and went on to become one of the biggest pop stars of his generation. His sound sits between R&B and synth-pop, built on dark atmosphere, eighties synths and lyrics about fame, nightlife and loneliness. The breakthrough came in 2015 with Beauty Behind the Madness and the singles Can't Feel My Face and The Hills, followed by the Daft Punk collaborations on Starboy and by Blinding Lights from After Hours in 2020. Dawn FM and Hurry Up Tomorrow closed off a trilogy in 2025, and by his own account the character called The Weeknd as well.
This collection brings together The Weeknd on vinyl, LP and CD: the early mixtapes, the studio albums from his pop era and compilations such as The Highlights.
