Tina Turner

Tina Turner, born Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tennessee, first made her name in the 1960s as the voice of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue, on records such as River Deep, Mountain High and Nutbush City Limits. After leaving Ike she rebuilt her career on her own terms in the 1980s and became one of the biggest live performers in the world: Private Dancer won her multiple Grammy Awards in 1985, Foreign Affair gave her a first UK number 1 album in 1989 and The Best turned into her signature song. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, with Ike in 1991 and as a solo artist in 2021, and died on 24 May 2023 at the age of 83 in Küsnacht, Switzerland.
