Brian Wilson stopped touring in 1965 and moved into the studio, where he built the songs up layer by layer with session players from The Wrecking Crew: horns, cellos, harpsichord, bicycle bells and a soda can used as percussion. Tony Asher co-wrote lyrics about doubt, longing and not fitting into your own time. Pet Sounds was originally released in May 1966 and brought Wouldn't It Be Nice, God Only Knows, Sloop John B and Caroline, No. Sales lagged in the United States, while in Britain the album reached number two and was embraced straight away; Rolling Stone later placed it at number 2 on its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
This edition is an LP with the original mono mix, pressed on 180 gram vinyl.
