The Bridge, originally released in 1986, was the last of the six albums Billy Joel made with producer Phil Ramone. It drew in a striking number of guests: Ray Charles sings on the piano duet Baby Grand, Cyndi Lauper can be heard on Code of Silence, which she co-wrote with Joel, and Steve Winwood plays organ on Getting Closer. A Matter of Trust became the best known single, with a video in which Joel plays guitar instead of piano. Modern Woman had already appeared earlier that year on the soundtrack to the film Ruthless People.
