Earthling is David Bowie's twenty-first studio album and originally appeared on 3 February 1997. The album was recorded at Looking Glass Studios in New York and produced by Bowie together with Reeves Gabrels and Mark Plati. Musically, the album combines elements of drum and bass and industrial with Bowie's rock sound, a style in keeping with the electronic dance music of the 1990s. The album includes the single "I'm Afraid of Americans", which Bowie co-wrote with Brian Eno and which was later remixed by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. Songs such as "Little Wonder" and "Dead Man Walking" were also released as singles.
