When 1. Outside came out in 1995, the concept album turned out to be too long for a single LP; for vinyl, David Bowie therefore assembled Excerpts From Outside, a shortened version with edits of tracks including 'Leon Takes Us Outside' and 'The Motel'. The album, his first collaboration with Brian Eno since the Berlin period, follows detective Nathan Adler through a near future in which murder has been elevated to an art form. The music is art rock with industrial and electronic textures, with 'The Hearts Filthy Lesson' and 'Hallo Spaceboy' as its best-known tracks. This vinyl version had been unavailable separately for over ten years and returns as a half-speed cut of the Eno-approved 2021 remasters. This edition is an LP on clear vinyl, released for Record Store Day.
