Black Celebration is the point where Depeche Mode moved into the shadows for good. The fifth studio album, originally from 1986, was recorded at Hansa Studios in Berlin with Gareth Jones and Daniel Miller and sounds heavy and cavernous, built from sampled metal and low choral voices. Stripped opens on the sound of an engine starting and became the first single, A Question of Lust hands the vocal to Martin Gore, and the closing New Dress takes a swipe at the British tabloid press. This edition is an LP.
