The Best of Depeche Mode Volume 1 collects seventeen singles from 1981 to 2005, from New Life and Just Can't Get Enough to Enjoy the Silence, Walking in My Shoes, and Precious. The compilation originally came out in November 2006 on Mute, with Martyr as its only new track, a song left over from the Playing the Angel sessions and issued as a single. The running order is not chronological, so the early synth-pop and the heavier post-2000 material sit side by side. It sold more than a million copies in Europe, earning an IFPI Platinum Europe Award. This edition is a 3LP.
